Which PPF coverage is right for your Tesla?

Compare the panels first. A full hood and a partial hood are different installations, even when both are advertised as front protection.

Paint protection film, or PPF, is a transparent or colored film fitted over selected exterior panels. It provides a replaceable barrier that can reduce minor chip and scuff damage. It does not make a car dent-proof or repair damage already in the paint.

For one problem area

Selected-panel PPF

A focused choice for an exposed bumper, hood, mirror cap or damaged section of existing film.

  • Prioritize the panel you want protected.
  • Keep the initial coverage cost contained.
  • Match the existing film and finish where possible.

Best starting point: one area matters more than complete-car coverage.

For broader exterior coverage

Full-body PPF

Add the doors, rear panels and other agreed painted surfaces for more extensive protection.

  • Agree every included exterior panel.
  • Consider consistent gloss or satin appearance.
  • Specify charging door, handles and edges.

Best starting point: you want protection beyond the front and plan to maintain the whole finish.

The finish is part of the specification

Gloss, satin or matte: choose the right PPF finish

Compare a physical sample and the exact product series before you choose. Gloss, satin and matte finishes need different expectations and care.

Gloss, matte or satin

Clear gloss PPF is the starting point when you want the existing paint color to remain visible with a gloss appearance. Matte or satin film changes the way the surface reflects light. Compare a real sample before choosing, especially if you are covering only part of the car.

Identify the product

The manufacturer and product series tell you more than a label such as premium film. Compare the specified thickness, surface finish, care requirements and written warranty. A thicker film alone is not proof of a better installation. Ask us which products are available for your chosen coverage before booking.

Understand self-healing

Some products can reduce light marks in the film's surface through self-healing properties. That does not mean a cut, puncture, damaged paint layer, or every scratch will disappear. A damaged film section may need replacement. Do not use a heat gun or an improvised treatment to try to repair it yourself.

PPF vs ceramic coating vs vinyl wrap

Choose PPF for a film barrier

Your priority is reducing minor chip and scuff damage on the covered panels. PPF adds a physical film layer and can be replaced by panel when appropriate.

Limit: it cannot prevent every impact, dent or deep scratch.

Choose coating for easier care

Your priority is surface finish and easier cleaning. Ceramic coating can complement suitable film but does not provide an equivalent stone-chip barrier.

Choose vinyl for a new look

Your priority is changing color or appearance. A decorative vinyl wrap should not be quoted as though it offers the same protection as a specified PPF product.

Choose the service that solves your main concern. If combining coating and PPF, check compatibility with the film manufacturer’s instructions.

Start with the surface

Chips, scratches or old film? Prepare the surface first

Cleaning, paint correction and paint repair are different parts of preparation. Agree which work is needed before film is fitted.

Record the condition

New film does not repair a dent, fill a stone chip, or restore peeling paint. Point out previous repairs, repainting, existing coatings, and any old film before the quotation is finalized.

  • Show existing chips, scratches and dents.
  • Identify previous repairs and repainted panels.
  • Mention coatings and any old film.

Separate preparation from repair

Cleaning removes contamination; correction addresses suitable surface defects; paint repair tackles damage that film cannot fix. Keep these costs separate. For chips or scratches that need repair, explore Tesla paint repair before fitting PPF. Dents or damaged panels may need Tesla body repair first.

Recently refinished panels need an assessment against the paint system's requirements. Avoid choosing an installation date from a generic waiting-period claim. Existing-film removal also needs its own condition review rather than a promise that every surface will release without risk.

From your first photos to installation and handover

A clear specification helps prevent surprises. Use these four stages to understand what your quotation and installation should cover.

  1. Show us the car

Send the Tesla model, year, coverage preference and clear photos. Mention old film, repainting or exterior modifications so the discussion starts with the actual vehicle.

  2. Agree scope and price

Review the paint condition, named film, panel list, preparation and final quotation. Resolve repair needs before approving installation.

  3. Plan the fit

Agree edge treatment, seams, pattern suitability and any trim removal. Camera openings, sensors where fitted, handles and charging access must remain unobstructed.

  4. Inspect and collect

Compare the finish and installed panels with the agreed scope. Keep the product details, care instructions and written warranty information.

Fitment follows the body shape

A refreshed Model 3 or Model Y, replacement bumper or aftermarket part may need a different pattern. Model year plus photographs helps identify the correct exterior. Share any further identification privately if requested.

Collection time follows the work

A single panel and a full-body installation require different schedules. Paint correction, old-film removal and the selected product’s handling requirements affect timing. Agree a collection estimate before arranging transport.

What to check before you accept the finished car

The installed finish

  • Every agreed panel is covered, with exclusions understood.
  • Edges and seams match the planned fitting approach.
  • Handles, charging access and camera openings remain clear.
  • Any temporary appearance is explained, with a review point.

If you see lifting, persistent marks or contamination, photograph it and contact the installer before peeling, trimming or polishing the film.

The product and warranty record

Product warranty and workmanship cover are different. A manufacturer’s policy may cover specified film defects; installation terms address the fitting work. Impact damage and maintenance exclusions need separate attention.

  • Record the exact film and installer on your invoice.
  • Keep duration, exclusions and claim instructions.
  • Complete registration if the product requires it.

Simple habits after installation

Care for the installed film

Use the care instructions for your exact film. A gentle wash routine and attention to the edges help you look after the finish.

Before the first wash

Confirm the waiting period with your installer. Waiting periods vary by product. For example, XPEL’s care instructions specify different intervals for some product lines. Follow the instructions for the film actually fitted to your car.

  1. Choose a gentle wash

    • Use cleaning products approved for the fitted film.
    • Use clean, soft washing materials and gentle methods.
    • Tell the wash provider the film type and installation date.
  2. Protect the edges and finish

    • Keep high-pressure water away from film edges.
    • Avoid abrasive polishing and unapproved chemicals.
    • Follow the separate care instructions for matte or satin film.
  3. Deal with marks early

    • Remove contamination using the product-approved method.
    • Photograph lifting, persistent marks or damaged sections.
    • Contact the installer before peeling, trimming or treating the film yourself.

Tesla PPF questions, answered

Is PPF worth it for a Tesla in Dubai?

It is worth considering if reducing minor chips and scuffs on selected panels matters to you. Regular highway use may make full-front coverage a useful starting point; broader exterior coverage may justify full body. Balance the film and installation cost against the protection you want. PPF is optional and does not guarantee a higher resale price.

Should I choose full front or full body?

Choose full front when the front-facing panels are your main concern. Choose full body when you also want the doors and rear painted panels covered or want a consistent satin finish. Check the written panel list, especially handles, sills and charging door.

Which PPF brands and warranties do you offer?

Ask the workshop for the current manufacturer, product series and written terms with your quote. The brands in the market price table identify external reference prices and do not establish our stock or warranty. Product availability and fitting terms are confirmed before booking.

Will PPF hide existing scratches or stone chips?

PPF does not repair paint damage. Cleaning, correction or paint repair may be appropriate before fitting it. A condition check establishes what is needed, including any previously repainted panels.

How long does Tesla PPF installation take?

Timing depends on coverage, preparation, old-film removal and the chosen film. Request an installation and collection estimate for your actual vehicle. Do not assume every full-body job is completed the same day.

How long does PPF last in Dubai?

There is no single lifespan for every film. The product, exposure, care and condition of the installation all matter. Use the manufacturer’s specifications and written warranty as references, and have deteriorating or lifting film assessed rather than waiting for a fixed age.

Can a damaged PPF panel be replaced or removed?

Often the affected panel can be assessed separately. Product availability, age, finish and the condition underneath determine the suitable repair or replacement scope. Repainted panels and aged film need a removal assessment; damage-free removal cannot be promised for every surface.

Are the glass roof, windshield and headlights included?

Do not assume they are. Body PPF covers the agreed painted panels. Glass, lights, wheels and interior surfaces need separate product and suitability checks and should be listed separately if included.

Can I wash the car or apply ceramic coating over PPF?

Wait for the first-wash period specified for the fitted film. Use approved cleaning methods and keep pressure jets away from edges. A coating should be used over film only when the product combination is compatible.
