Start with the damage
A small chip is not automatically repairable
The location and depth of damage matter as much as its size. A photo can help plan the inspection, but it cannot establish the condition of every glass layer or the full damage boundary.
Assess for a permitted repair
A localized outer-layer chip may qualify only within the repair zones and damage limits for the exact vehicle. Existing repairs also matter. Ask the assessor to explain which applicable Tesla criteria the damage meets.
Plan for replacement
Damage in a prohibited repair zone, damage to the inner glass layer or damage outside the permitted limits requires replacement. Do not accept a blanket promise to repair every small crack.
Visibility compromised or glass severely damaged? Stop when safe and call to discuss assessment or recovery. Do not continue driving simply to attend a glass appointment.
Location changes the answer
Check the camera area and glass edges
Tesla’s 2024 and later Model 3 glass guidance prohibits windshield repairs in defined areas, including the painted border, camera field of view and surrounding 25 mm, and the passenger-side area identified in its diagram.
Its permitted zones have their own damage limits, and inner-layer damage requires replacement. These rules explain why a coin-sized chip is not enough information for a repair promise. The workshop must use the diagram and procedure applicable to your vehicle.
Tell us about earlier chip repairs, a spreading crack, a previous glass replacement or water entering around the windshield. A leak or wind noise needs inspection of the fitting and seal, not an automatic new-glass order.
Before ordering
Match the windshield to the build
Provide the model, year and VIN privately when requested. The quote should identify the glass manufacturer or part number and confirm the camera bracket, sensor provisions, connectors and any fitted heating or acoustic features.
Model 3 and Model Y revisions can have different glass and camera arrangements. Model S and Model X also vary by generation and equipment. A photo of the car or a generic model name is not a substitute for checking fitment.
Ask whether the quoted part is Tesla-branded or another identified manufacturer. A label such as OEM quality does not establish the supplier, compatibility or warranty.
This service concerns the front windshield. Damage to the overhead panel belongs with Tesla roof glass assessment, with its own part and repair decision.

From inspection to a bonded windshield
Agree the work and price
Record damage, warning messages, glass details and trim condition. Inspect the replacement glass before fitting, then agree the part and complete price.
Prepare and fit
Protect surrounding surfaces, remove the old glass and inspect the bonding area. Prepare and install the replacement using the applicable vehicle and adhesive procedures.
Allow the specified cure
The adhesive manufacturer’s instructions and conditions determine the minimum drive-away time. Fitting time alone does not determine when the vehicle can leave.
Check and explain
Review glass condition, fit, sealing and required camera steps. Provide collection instructions and clearly identify any unfinished calibration or unresolved warning.
Tesla’s 2017 to 2023 Model 3 windshield procedure specifies adhesive-dependent drive-away timing. Exact procedures vary by build.
Two separate completion conditions
Adhesive curing and camera calibration are different
The glass can be physically installed while bonding time or camera calibration is still outstanding. Ask for both statuses at handover.

When the vehicle may be driven
Follow the specified adhesive cure and drive-away instructions. A finished installation or cleared dashboard warning does not shorten the required bonding time.

When camera features are available
Tesla’s Model 3 camera guidance requires calibration to be cleared when a camera has moved from its calibrated position, such as after windshield replacement. The cameras then repeat self-calibration.
Completion depends on suitable driving and road conditions. Some assistance and active safety features remain unavailable until it finishes. A fixed workshop time or a generic static calibration package cannot guarantee completion on every Tesla.
Confirm the applicable procedure, who will perform each step and how incomplete calibration will be handled. Camera faults can persist for reasons that a calibration reset will not resolve. Persistent warnings may need a separate Tesla camera diagnosis. Do not rely on an unavailable assistance feature.
Three hypothetical budgets
How different glass jobs affect the estimate
These are planning examples, not customer jobs or workshop offers. Each assumes an eligible repair or a compatible replacement. Inspection and unlisted extras require a separate quote.
2021 Model 3 with an eligible outer-layer chip
Assume inspection confirms the damage can be repaired under the applicable Tesla guidance. A general chip-repair market estimate is AED 157.50 to 472.50 including VAT. No replacement or camera work is assumed.
Confirm the approved repair method, inspection charge, appearance limitations and written repair terms. If the chip is in a prohibited zone, this example does not apply.
2023 Model Y with a replacement windshield
Assume compatible manufacturer-branded glass and fitting at AED 1,890 to 3,675, plus separately quoted camera work at AED 630 to 1,260. The combined category estimate is AED 2,520 to 4,935 including VAT.
Confirm the actual glass supplier, bonding materials, trim and clips, camera procedure and collection plan. This calculation is not a verified Model Y package.
2019 Model X with a genuine-glass quotation
Assume the dealer-sourced glass-and-fitting category at AED 3,150 to 6,300, plus camera work at AED 630 to 1,260. The combined category estimate is AED 3,780 to 7,560 including VAT.
Confirm the exact Model X part and supplier price. Unusual glass specifications, ordering, aperture damage or additional repairs can take the quote outside this guide.
No warranty duration is implied by these budgets. Ask for glass coverage and installation workmanship terms separately, including exclusions and the process for reporting a leak or warning.
At collection and afterward
Leave with clear care instructions
Before departure
Check the permitted drive-away time, glass condition and outstanding warnings. Obtain the invoice, part details and written coverage terms.
During the curing period
Follow the adhesive-specific instructions for washing, tape and vehicle use. Avoid substituting a universal 24-hour rule for the instructions for the material actually fitted.
If a concern returns
Report water ingress, unusual wind noise or camera warnings promptly. Persistent wiping marks may need a separate wiper blade and washer assessment.
How much does Tesla windshield replacement cost in Dubai?
The estimated glass-and-fitting market guide is AED 1,155 to 2,100 for aftermarket or equivalent glass, AED 1,890 to 3,675 for manufacturer-branded glass, and AED 3,150 to 6,300 for the genuine dealer-sourced category, including VAT. Camera work and other extras must be confirmed separately. These are not fixed Tesla Repair Dubai rates or confirmed prices for your model.
Will insurance pay for windshield replacement?
Check your policy’s glass coverage, excess, approval requirements and permitted glass specification with the insurer before work starts. Ask which documents it requires. Coverage, claim approval and direct billing are not automatic workshop benefits.
Can you repair any small chip in a Tesla windshield?
No. Repair eligibility depends on the applicable Tesla zones and damage limits, depth and previous repairs. Damage in a prohibited area or to the inner glass layer requires replacement. Photos support triage but do not replace inspection.
Does the price include camera calibration?
It must be stated in the written quote. Ask which steps apply to your Tesla, whether they are performed or arranged by the workshop, and what happens if calibration remains incomplete. Do not assume that a glass-only amount includes them.
Will every Tesla need the same calibration procedure?
No. Follow the model, build and hardware-specific Tesla procedure. The cited Model 3 guidance describes clearing calibration when camera position changes and then completing self-calibration. It does not establish one universal static calibration package.
How long does windshield replacement take?
The schedule depends on inspection, glass availability, installation and adhesive cure. Camera calibration may require suitable driving conditions afterward. Confirm the collection time and any remaining feature restrictions separately.
Can you use glass from another manufacturer?
Ask for an identified manufacturer and part specification, with fitment and camera provisions checked for your vehicle. Compare the glass and installation coverage in writing. An OEM quality label alone is not enough to establish equivalence.
Is roof glass included in this service?
No. The front windshield and overhead glass are separate components. Roof damage needs its own assessment, correct panel and quote.
What should I send when requesting a quote?
Send model and year, a whole-windshield photo and a close view of the damage while parked. Describe warning messages, leaks and prior repairs. Provide the VIN privately when needed for part identification; avoid including personal documents in general photos.
