Independent Tesla workshop in Al Quoz
Tesla Motor Replacement in Dubai
A drive-unit warning, new noise or reduced power does not automatically mean your Tesla needs a replacement motor. Our Al Quoz workshop assesses the fault and helps you compare the suitable repair and replacement options.
- Start with the cause before ordering an assembly.
- Match the front or rear unit to your vehicle.
- Review the work and estimate before approval.

Choose the work the fault needs
Repair or replace the drive unit
A complete drive unit is not the automatic answer to a warning or noise. The first decision is whether the problem is inside the assembly, in a serviceable component, or elsewhere in the vehicle.
Check remaining Tesla coverage first
If the fault may be covered by Tesla’s Battery and Drive Unit Limited Warranty, check the warranty supplied with your vehicle and Tesla’s UAE warranty information before approving independent work. Tesla handles covered repairs. Imported vehicles need their applicable warranty region checked.
Different findings mean different repairs
Tesla motor replacement cost in Dubai
A published UAE inspection guide places rear drive-unit replacement at AED 12,000–30,000. A confirmed mounting or cooling fault can involve a much smaller repair. The references below help you understand the scale of the work before requesting a quote.
| Confirmed work | Published AED guide |
|---|---|
| Rear drive-unit replacement | 12,000–30,000 |
| Tesla pack-cooling pump repair | 2,500–5,000 |
| Model 3 Dual Motor or Performance drive-unit mount replacement | 1,100–1,800 |
Price basis: the sources do not specify VAT treatment or every fitting inclusion. These figures are budget references, not VAT-inclusive totals. Your written quotation identifies parts, labor, testing, applicable VAT and the final amount payable.
The replacement and cooling-pump references come from InspectCar’s UAE inspection guide; the Model 3 mount range is published by Meta Mechanics. A cooling pump or mount is not a replacement traction motor.
Buying a used unit yourself? Establish the fault and compatible part first. Purchase price alone excludes the risk of an unsuitable assembly, fitting costs and return conditions. Ask about acceptance of customer-supplied parts before ordering.

Symptoms need context
Start with the warning or noise
Tell us what changed, when it happens and whether the car still selects Drive. A short recording or warning photograph can help plan the appointment, but it cannot confirm which component has failed.
Some electric-motor sounds are normal. Tesla’s Model 3 operating-sounds guidance explains that some high-pitched acceleration sounds are normal. A new, louder or changing sound deserves assessment, especially with a warning, vibration or loss of power.
High-voltage components and orange cables are workshop-only areas. Avoid dismantling connectors or repeatedly attempting to drive a vehicle that tells you to stop.
- Whine or rumble at speed
- Motor or reduction-gear bearings are possible causes, but tires and wheel bearings also need consideration. Note whether the sound changes with road speed, acceleration or deceleration.
- Clunk or vibration under load
- Mountings, halfshafts and nearby suspension components can mimic a drive-unit fault. Describe when it occurs without deliberately repeating an unsafe maneuver.
- Reduced power or drive warning
- Follow the exact on-screen instruction. Electrical, cooling and battery conditions can limit power; the message alone does not prove that the motor needs replacement.
- Leak or recent water exposure
- Report the location and any impact or flooding history. A visible leak needs its source identified. Coolant-system work and an internal drive-unit problem are different repairs.
Unable to drive safely? Stop in a safe place and arrange suitable recovery. Tell the recovery operator the model and whether the wheels can roll. For example, Tesla’s Model Y transport instructions require all four tires off the ground during transport. The operator must follow the instructions for your actual vehicle.
Match the assembly to the car
Motor and drive unit explained
The traction motor produces the turning force. A drive-unit assembly combines drivetrain components, including the motor and reduction gearing; the inverter controls electrical power to the motor. The supplied assembly and serviceable parts vary by design.
The high-voltage battery is a separate component. A drive-unit replacement does not include a battery replacement, and reduced range alone is not evidence that either needs replacing. For a confirmed pack concern, see battery assessment and replacement.
- Identify the front or rear unit from the diagnosis.
- Match the VIN, build and installed part number before ordering.
- Check compatible revisions and required software procedures.
- Establish the supply date, fitting requirements and written coverage before ordering.

Model 3 and Model Y
Rear-wheel-drive and Dual Motor configurations need different parts checks. A shared model family or similar casing does not prove that two assemblies are interchangeable.
Model S and Model X
Older vehicles and later generations use different drivetrain configurations. Performance and Plaid applications need their own matching checks rather than a generic Model S or X quote.
Compare condition and coverage
Replacement parts choices
Compare the supplied condition as carefully as the price. The available choices depend on the exact assembly and its part revision.
New assembly
Ask for the exact genuine part and revision, the included components, availability and installed total. New parts still require correct matching and the applicable completion procedures.
Remanufactured assembly
Identify who remanufactured it, what was restored or replaced, how it was tested and who backs the warranty. “Remanufactured” and “used” should not be treated as the same description.
Used assembly
Check donor history where available, test evidence, compatibility and return conditions before purchase. A low purchase price may be poor value if the part cannot be fitted or has uncertain condition.
A replacement repairs the agreed fault. It is not a promise of extra power, restored battery capacity or compatibility with every future software release.
What the finding changes
Three repair budget examples
These are illustrative repair situations using the market references above. They are not completed customer jobs, model-year quotations or promises that your car needs this work. VAT and fitting inclusions require confirmation.
Model 3 Dual Motor or Performance
A confirmed worn mount
AED 1,100–1,800
If the assessment identifies a damaged drive-unit mount while the assembly remains serviceable, price the mount and fitting rather than a complete motor.
- Identify the affected mount and required part.
- Check labor and final vibration checks.
- Record the actual warranty with the estimate.
Tesla with a cooling-system fault
A confirmed pack-cooling pump fault
AED 2,500–5,000
If testing identifies the pack-cooling pump as the failed component, the repair concerns the cooling system. A power warning alone does not justify a new drive unit.
- Match the pump to the vehicle’s system.
- Include required coolant work and checks.
- Investigate remaining faults separately.
Tesla requiring a rear assembly
Confirmed internal drive-unit damage
AED 12,000–30,000
When a supported repair is unsuitable, compare a compatible replacement by part number, condition and installed total. Front units and specialist variants need their own quote.
- Specify new, remanufactured or used condition.
- Separate exchange deposit and transport.
- Include fitting, setup and written coverage.
Model, year, diagnosis and available parts determine the actual estimate. The examples show why similar symptoms can lead to very different bills.
From assessment to collection
Agree the work before fitting
Assess the fault
Review the symptoms and history, then agree the diagnostic scope. Further dismantling needs its own authorization when required.
Confirm the estimate
Review the findings, parts choice, total payable and expected supply time before approving repair or replacement.
Complete the repair
The actual procedure determines safe isolation, fitting, fluids and any software work. For example, the 2024 and later Model 3 rear 4DU procedure is specific to that assembly. The correct procedure depends on your car.
Review the result
Check the repaired function, relevant faults, leaks and road behavior where safe. Record remaining findings separately.
Plan diagnosis and collection separately
Diagnosis, parts supply and fitting are separate stages. A unit ordered for your VIN may take longer than the workshop work itself. Ask for an assessment appointment, parts lead time and expected collection date; there is no reliable universal same-day promise.
Collection and follow-up
After the repair
Leave with a clear explanation of the completed work and the instructions that apply to it. Any running-in or follow-up requirement should come from the specific repair instructions.

Review the handover
Keep the itemized invoice, fitted part details and written warranty. Ask which checks were completed and whether any unrelated findings remain.
Notice a returning symptom
Report a returning noise, vibration, warning or fresh fluid leak promptly. Share the message and when it happened, rather than repeatedly trying to reproduce the fault.
Follow the agreed care
Use the instructions supplied for the fitted part and your vehicle. A stop-driving warning needs immediate attention, even after a recent repair.
Independent Tesla support in Al Quoz
A clear decision before a major repair
Start with our workshop for motor-fault assessment, repair options and a vehicle-specific replacement estimate. The aim is to establish which component needs attention before you commit to an assembly.
Internal bearing, inverter and motor work depends on the design and damage. The proposed repair method, testing and any specialist involvement should be identified before you authorize that work.

How much does a Tesla motor replacement cost in Dubai
A published UAE guide gives AED 12,000–30,000 for rear drive-unit replacement. Its VAT basis and detailed inclusions are not stated, so use it only for budgeting. Your fitted quote depends on the exact unit, supplied condition, diagnosis and required completion work.
What does the diagnostic charge cover
Agree the initial checks and charge before the visit. A code scan, further investigation and dismantling are different levels of work. Any additional investigation and any credit toward an approved repair should be agreed separately.
Does a motor warning mean replacement?
No. The warning needs to be read with the vehicle’s fault information and checks. Repairing a cooling, wiring or serviceable component fault may be appropriate; replacement follows a confirmed need.
Can I keep driving with one motor affected?
Do not assume a Dual Motor Tesla is safe to drive on the other motor. Follow the vehicle’s warning and arrange suitable recovery if it cannot be driven safely. An online description cannot clear the car for driving.
Can the inverter be replaced separately?
Some assemblies have separate service procedures for inverter components. That does not establish the correct repair for every Tesla. The unit, confirmed fault, compatible part and required software access determine what can be offered.
Will both drive units need replacing?
Not automatically. An all-wheel-drive layout does not by itself justify replacing both assemblies. The estimate should identify each failed component and the evidence supporting its replacement.
Does replacement start a new Tesla warranty?
Independent repair does not automatically start a new Tesla vehicle warranty. Manufacturer-covered work and separately purchased parts have different terms. Confirm the provider, parts and labor scope, exclusions and time or mileage limit in writing.
Should I buy a used motor before diagnosis?
Wait until the failed component and compatible part are established. If you already have a unit, send its details before arranging fitting. Suitability, supplied condition and acceptance of customer-supplied parts must be agreed first.
