Tesla Rocker Panel Replacement in Dubai

Scraped trim or a dent below the door? We assess the cover, body panel and surrounding area in Al Quoz 4, then explain whether repair or replacement is suitable.

Three different repair scopes

Identify the damaged rocker or sill component

The visible lower strip can hide a different component behind it. Identifying the damaged layer prevents a trim quote from being mistaken for a structural repair quote.

Names and construction vary across Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X. The build version and VIN establish the correct part and procedure.

01

Removable cover or trim

A scraped or loose cover may need replacement clips, repair or a correctly matched cover. Its condition does not establish whether the metal behind it is intact.

02

Outer body panel

A dent, crease or torn painted surface needs an assessment of depth, access and material. Repair and refinishing may be possible where the applicable procedure permits it.

03

Inner sill or reinforcement

Crushing or damage extending inward calls for a structural assessment. Replacement sections and joining methods are specified for the vehicle, not chosen as a styling upgrade.

Tesla documents a separate Model 3 lower rocker-cover procedure and a separate 2017–2023 Model 3 sill outer front-section procedure. These examples are not universal instructions for every Tesla.

Compare the same work

Tesla rocker panel repair prices

A cosmetic sill repair and a structural replacement have different budgets. Identify the damaged component first so a trim or paint price does not stand in for the complete job.

Estimated planning budgets per affected side
Work being consideredPlanning priceWhat the budget covers
Minor cosmetic sill repair and paintAED 400–800
Before VAT
Limited surface preparation and refinishing where the panel can be retained. Excludes replacement parts, structural work and adjacent-panel blending.
Wider dent repair and refinishingInspection-based quotePermitted dent repair, access and paintwork. A deep crease, restricted access or prior repairs can change the method and cost.
Rocker cover replacementVIN-specific parts and fitting quoteCorrect left or right cover, fixings, removal and fitting. Supplied finish, paint requirements and mounting damage must be stated.
Sill section or reinforcement replacementStructural assessment and written quoteModel-specific parts, disassembly, joining, protection, finish and required checks. Concealed damage can add operations.

AED 400–800 is an indicative market planning estimate before VAT, not a fixed workshop price or a completed customer job. It applies only to eligible minor cosmetic work. Your written estimate must show the applicable VAT and total payable. Cover replacement and structural repair require separate vehicle-specific pricing.

One cosmetic repair

One eligible affected side: estimated AED 400–800 before VAT, subject to condition and finish.

Both sides need minor work

Two equivalent cosmetic scopes: estimated AED 800–1,600 before VAT. This is arithmetic, not a package or discount.

Damage beneath the cover

Stop using the cosmetic budget. Ask for a separate assessment and replacement estimate based on the exact findings.

After a scrape or collision

What to do after a lower body impact

Surface scrape with secure trim

Send a wide side photo and a close-up. Note exposed metal, paint loss and when the scrape happened. Avoid covering the damage before it is assessed.

Loose trim, a deep crease or a changed door gap

Arrange inspection before treating it as a cosmetic job. Mention rubbing, a door that no longer closes normally or damage close to a lifting point.

Hard underside impact, leakage or a vehicle warning

Stop safely and seek professional advice before driving or charging if battery damage is suspected. Do not crawl under, lift or open the battery area yourself. Smoke, unusual heat or hissing requires emergency assistance. Keep people away and do not approach the vehicle to investigate.

A scratched cover alone does not prove battery damage. Replacing it cannot rule out concealed damage. For a vehicle that should not be driven, ask about Tesla recovery arrangements before moving it.

From diagnosis to a written repair plan

A repair method matched to your Tesla

Carbon fiber, plastic, steel and aluminum are not interchangeable structural sill options. The vehicle design determines the component and permitted repair method.

  1. 01

    Identify and inspect

Confirm model, build version and impact history. Check visible damage, trim attachment and adjacent door openings. Agree any necessary removal or further inspection.

  2. 02

    Explain the repair decision

Separate cover work, permitted metal repair and required replacement. Structural work needs the applicable repair information, equipment and technician qualifications, confirmed before booking. Tesla requires approved welding training for technicians welding structural components. Ask whether your exact repair can be completed at this workshop or requires a specialist facility.

  3. 03

    Set out related operations

Account for access, parts and fasteners, joining, sealing, paint and any required checks. Work near protected high-voltage components needs its own safety procedures.

  4. 04

    Review the finished work

Check trim security, door operation, panel fit and finish. Ask for the repair scope, parts record, applicable check results and written workmanship terms at handover.

When damage extends beyond the sill

Use our Tesla body shop assessment for connected collision damage. If the rear side panel is also affected, review quarter-panel repair and replacement as a separate part of the estimate.

Finish and handover

Check the repaired area before collection

Look beyond the paint finish. Fit, trim attachment, documentation and the agreed checks all matter.

01 At collection

Check fit and movement

Review the side in good light. Check trim security, panel fit and normal door operation. Ask about unresolved findings.

02 Your repair record

Confirm what was completed

Ask for the parts record, agreed repair scope, applicable check results and written workmanship terms.

03 Fresh paint

Follow the paint system timing

Ask when washing, polishing or protective film is appropriate. Curing time depends on the product. Review Tesla paint repair options if refinishing is the main issue.

04 Ongoing care

Report a change promptly

Clean gently. Avoid high-pressure water at damaged seams. Report loose clips, bubbling paint, rubbing or a changing door gap. A new impact needs a fresh assessment.

How much should I budget for rocker panel work?

Eligible minor cosmetic sill repair and paint has an estimated planning range of AED 400–800 per affected side before VAT. Cover replacement, wider dent repair and structural replacement need separate written quotes. Ask for parts, labor, related operations, applicable VAT and the total payable. A photo cannot establish all concealed damage.

Can a damaged rocker panel be repaired instead of replaced?

Sometimes. Cover damage, a repairable outer-panel dent and structural damage need different decisions. The affected material, damage location and Tesla’s applicable repair guidance determine what is permitted. A deep crease or torn metal should not be quoted as a routine trim repair from a photo alone.

Is a side skirt the same as a structural sill?

No. Side skirt often describes exterior trim or an accessory. The sill includes body components below the doors. Ask the estimate to identify the exact component so you know whether you are approving cosmetic cover work or structural work.

Can I choose carbon fiber or plastic instead of the original metal?

A cosmetic accessory is a separate product. It cannot substitute for the specified structural sill or reinforcement. Replacement parts and joining methods must match the vehicle’s repair requirements.

How long does replacement take?

Timing depends on the damage and confirmed parts supply. A cover replacement differs from disassembly, structural replacement and refinishing. Request a schedule after inspection that accounts for parts, paint curing, any insurer authorization and final checks.

Will my insurer or Tesla warranty pay for the repair?

Coverage depends on the cause, your policy and the warranty that came with the vehicle. Obtain the insurer’s approval before authorizing claim-related work. For a possible manufacturing defect, contact Tesla first. This independent workshop cannot promise an insurer’s or Tesla’s coverage decision.

What photos should I send?

Send the whole affected side, a close-up of the damage and a view showing the nearby wheel and door edge. Add model, year and how the impact occurred. Photograph only from a safe position; do not go beneath the vehicle. Share a VIN privately if needed for parts identification.

Does replacement need paint and corrosion protection?

A removable cover may have a supplied finish. Repaired or replaced body metal can require refinishing, seam sealing and corrosion protection as specified by the applicable repair procedure. Ask which operations are included rather than assuming a visible paint finish is the entire repair.
